peanut butter is a popular spread especially in America, made mainly from ground peanuts. Peanut butter can be integrated into a diet, as well as used as a supplement for the sport. The peanuts are then processed with salt, sugar and oil to a cream. Peanut butter actually has nothing to do with butter, as it is not a dairy product. In the US, peanut butter has long been part of the breakfast culture, while peanut butter is rather unknown in Germany. The peanut butter has become famous for the so-called "Jelly Sandwich", which consists of a white bread coated with jam and peanut butter. The confectionery industry uses peanut butter as a filling for chocolate bars or butter biscuits. Especially in Asian cuisine, peanut butter often serves to refine certain sauces, vegetables and egg dishes.
Who invented it?
The peanut butter was made by the brilliant Dr. Invented John Kellog, who became famous for the world-famous Kellogs cornflakes. Dr. Kellog used the peanut butter as a meal for patients without teeth. The soft mass was like a porridge and was still nutritious. Peanut butter is also used by many athletes as a nutritional supplement, as this delicious diet can also provide protein and sufficient carbohydrates. In Germany, the term peanut butter is not allowed for a product because the name butter may only be used for dairy products. You can therefore buy the peanut butter often on the shelves of supermarkets as peanut or peanut cream.
Crunchy or creamy?
Peanut butter can be bought officially in different variants. A "creamy" is a completely pureed peanut butter that resembles a nut nougat cream spread. "Crunchy", on the other hand, is a peanut butter that still contains small pieces of cream. Other versions include "extra crunchy" with extra-large pieces of peanut and a reduced-fat peanut butter or flavor-intensive products containing caramel or honey, for example. These listed peanut varieties are currently not available in Germany, otherwise you can now buy peanut butter almost in every supermarket.
Peanut butter homemade
An aromatic peanut butter, you can also prepare perfectly from home. You will need about 250 grams of roasted, skinned and unsalted peanuts, a pinch of salt and about two tablespoons of pea or sunflower oil. Both types of oil are very tasteless, which has the advantage that the taste of peanuts is not distorted. The peanuts are first chopped together with the salt in a chick machine. From time to time pour the oil over it, so that gradually a creamy mass is created. If you want larger pieces of peanut butter, you just need to make the machine a bit coarser. The home-made peanut butter is best kept in the refrigerator for about two weeks, but it's probably eaten after a few days.
Is peanut butter healthy?
Peanut butter contains a lot of calories, so you should eat it in moderation. A high quality peanut butter contains a lot of monounsaturated fat, vitamin E, vitamin B3, protein and zinc. For many strength athletes, peanut butter serves as an important source of protein and fat. Furthermore, with peanut butter, about 35 percent of ingested calories come from unsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. According to scientific studies, it has been empirically proven that taking unsaturated fatty acids from nuts, olive oil or rapeseed oil is much healthier than consuming saturated fatty acids such as bacon or margarine. Even with a diet, peanut butter can be recommended as a valuable source of healthy fatty acids. You should remember that peanut butter is one of the important healthy fat suppliers such as olive oil, avocados or nuts. There is now even a peanut butter diet in which peanut butter is the main ingredient in many recipes. For example, you can self-prepare peanut butter pudding or hot chocolate with peanut butter according to a given recipe. These formulas have the advantage that the peanut butter must not only be used as a spread, but in many variants can aromatically improve the meals. The peanut butter is actually a multi-talent that should not be missing in any kitchen.
